ASA Charity Marks the Centenary of the Birth of Queen Elizabeth II with Elizabethan Fayre and Exhibition in Lurgan
On Saturday 25th April, ASA Charity proudly celebrated the Centenary of the Birth of Queen Elizabeth II with a successful Elizabethan Fayre and Exhibition at Brownlow Courtyard, Lurgan.
Bathed in spring sunshine, visitors enjoyed a wonderful day of community, heritage and remembrance in the historic surroundings of Brownlow House. Guests browsed a wide selection of stalls set against the stunning backdrop of one of Lurgan’s most iconic buildings, while inside the charity’s main hall, visitors were treated to a special exhibition curated from items collected over many years by ASA Charity’s Honorary Padre, Reverend Derek Kerr.
The event served as a fitting tribute not only to the centenary of Her late Majesty’s birth, but also to the remarkable legacy of service that defined the life of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty’s lifelong devotion to duty, steadfast leadership and unwavering commitment to the people of the United Kingdom and Commonwealth remain an enduring example of public service and dedication.
As a known admirer of pipe bands, it was only fitting that the sound of pipes and drums echoed through the grounds of Brownlow House throughout the day. The stirring musical accompaniment was provided by The Frontier Pipes and Drums, whose performances added a truly regal atmosphere to the occasion.
ASA Charity was honoured to welcome a number of distinguished guests to the event, including Deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland Emma Little-Pengelly, Carla Lockhart MP and the Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council, Alderman Stephen Moutray.
Donations received on the day were in aid of the Northern Ireland Purple Poppy Memorial Fund, with a total of £1,566.99 raised in support of the charity’s ongoing campaign to establish Northern Ireland’s first dedicated memorial to all animals that served from WW1 to the present day.
ASA Charity extends its sincere thanks to everyone who made the day possible and helped create such a fitting celebration of the Centenary of the Birth of Queen Elizabeth II. Special thanks are extended to the stall holders, Reverend Derek Kerr, The Frontier Pipes and Drums, Brownlow House, and to all those who attended and supported the new Elizabethan Fayre and Exhibition.
This memorable day was a fitting tribute to a remarkable monarch whose life was defined by duty, dignity and service.
