Hundreds of visitors attended throughout the week to view and appreciate the 25 paintings on display. Gladys’s powerful collection explored the Troubles, the Loyal Orders and some of Northern Ireland’s most iconic landmarks, while reflecting her own deeply personal experiences.

Gladys Fletcher said:

“It was wonderful to welcome everyone to the exhibition and to see so many old friends and family members. It was also very moving to meet people with stories similar to mine, particularly those who had lost a loved one who served in the security forces.”

The exhibition also raised funds for the Northern Ireland Purple Poppy Memorial, which will be unveiled at Brownlow Courtyard in February. The memorial will honour the animals that have served alongside the Armed Forces and emergency services during conflict.

Lexi Davidson, speaking on behalf of the ASA Charity, said:

“We would like to thank Gladys and everyone who generously donated towards the Northern Ireland Purple Poppy Memorial. An incredible £1,465.27 was raised during the exhibition, bringing us another important step closer to our fundraising target.

“The response throughout the week was tremendous. The exhibition provided an opportunity for people to appreciate Gladys’s remarkable work, share memories and reflect upon experiences that continue to resonate with many families across Northern Ireland.”

The ASA Charity would also like to extend its heartfelt thanks to Gladys, Bill, Davina and Laura for their friendship and support throughout the week.
