Successful Launch of Gladys Fletcher’s Art of Healing Exhibition

The ASA Charity would like to thank everyone who attended today’s official launch of Art of Healing, a deeply personal exhibition by artist Gladys Fletcher, at Brownlow Courtyard in Lurgan.

The launch was a tremendous success from the moment the doors opened. It was clear that visitors were deeply moved by Gladys’s story and greatly appreciated the remarkable collection of artwork she has produced.

Before the exhibition opened, ASA Charity Honorary President David Martin MBE welcomed those in attendance and spoke on behalf of the charity.

He then invited Gladys to provide an insight into the exhibition, her artwork and the personal experiences that inspired it. Gladys concluded by thanking everyone who helped make the exhibition possible, as well as those who attended the opening.

Special guest Hilda Vennard was then invited to sign the official visitors’ book, formally declaring the exhibition open. Gladys and Hilda were subsequently presented with flowers on behalf of the trustees of the ASA Charity.

ASA Charity Community Development Officer Lexi Davidson said:

“We are delighted to host this very special exhibition at Brownlow Courtyard. When I first learned of Gladys’s story, I knew it was something we had to help make happen.

“Her artwork is powerful, moving and deeply personal. It provides visitors with an opportunity to understand her experiences and see how creativity can help express pain, preserve memories and support the journey towards healing.

“I would also like to thank Gladys for generously choosing to donate the entrance contributions from the exhibition to the Northern Ireland Purple Poppy Memorial and Ricky from Annaghmore Men’s Shed who supplied the easels.”

The Art of Healing exhibition will reopen on Sunday 23 August from 10.00am until 2.00pm and will remain open daily until Friday 28 August.

Admission is by donation in aid of the Northern Ireland Purple Poppy Memorial.
